Assessments today need to provide more and better information about an applicant's ability to use language. The TOEFL program has met the challenge with a new comprehensive test that assesses all four language skills.

July 2004 - Practice and familiarization . Students and teachers will be introduced to the next generation TOEFL on the Web. Full-length tests will be unproctored, and scores will be reported to the examinee only.

September 2005 - For admission purposes . Next generation TOEFL will be administered at official ETS test centers. The test will be proctored, and scores will be reported directly to the institutions.
