1.重考的成绩对申请的影响 
Q:What are score recipients told about my scores?
 
A:Score recipients have been alerted to the GRE score verification process that is being implemented. Your scores on the test you recently took are sent to your designated score recipients as part of the regular GRE score reporting process. If you decide to retest, your designated score recipients will be informed of the retest when the retest score for the affected section is sent to them; they will be advised to replace the original score on the affected section with the retest score. If you decide not to retest, no additional communication will be sent to your designated score recipients.
 
重考后的分数怎么处理？这个问题也是很重要的啦。
 
重考的成绩将作为正式GRE成绩的一部分送到学校。如果你参加重考，那么学校会用重考的成绩替换原来的成绩。
下面的最重要：

如果你决定不参加重考，那么申请学校就不会收到任何通知。也就是说学校啥也不会知道。
 
所以上面有的网友说什么ETS会通知学校什么的，不知道是哪里来的信息，我很想知道。
 
2.重考耽误了申请怎么办？ 
Q:I’ve decided to retest but I’m not able to schedule a retest in time to meet application/fellowship deadlines. What should I do?
 
A:If you are unable to schedule an appointment to meet your application or fellowship deadlines, contact the GRE Program. Information for contacting the GRE Program is included in the letter you received from the GRE Program regarding the free retest offer.
 
To help you meet deadlines, the GRE Program is also offering you another way to speed up the score reporting process: you can tell your designated score recipients that they may contact the GRE Program to obtain your retest score.
 
这也是大家比较关心的：
如果重考耽误了我的申请怎么办？？
ETS说，如果真的耽误了，就和ETS联系，然后他们会在给你的回信里提供重考的信息（这一句我不是很明白，不知道ETS会提供什么信息能解决这个延误申请的问题，让你到米国重考？）。

你也可以打电话给送分学校，让他们去问ETS要你的重考成绩。（真是有病啊，sigh）

3.重考的时间问题
Q:How long will the voucher be valid? What happens if I cancel and reschedule?
 
A:The voucher for a free retest will be valid for one year following the date of the voucher. If you need to cancel an appointment for a retest, follow the appointment cancellation instructions in the GRE Information and Registration Bulletin (see page 4). All testing policies in the GRE Bulletin are in effect for this retest offer. The GRE Bulletin is available as a downloadable publication on the GRE Web site or by contacting the GRE Program at 1-609-771-7670 
重考的时间选择。
 
重考可以在1年内进行（这里没看懂确切意思，见谅），如果想取消重考，手续和普通考试的取消一样。
 
4.重考需要重新做所有的section吗？ 
ETS原文：
Q:If I take the free retest, can I take all the test sections again?
 
A:No. A free retest voucher is being provided to you only for the affected section. If you retake more than the affected section, official scores for those additional sections will not be reported to you or to your designated score recipients. For example, if your analytical score is identified for retest, but you also take the verbal section on retest, only the new analytical score will be reported.
重考不需要考所有的section，只需要考ETS认为有问题的那个Section. 

5.被要求重考的原因 
ETS原文：
Q:Why am I being offered a free retest?
 
A:In a very small number of cases, the GRE scoring model generates a score that may not reflect the test taker’s ability level. This can happen when there are a combination of factors such as the test question selection process, the test design, and the examinee’s time management strategy. It can also happen when an examinee answers correctly very difficult questions in some skill areas and answers incorrectly very easy questions in other skill areas. Because the test measures a variety of skills, such a pattern of answers may make it difficult to accurately measure an examinee’s ability. In cases where
the GRE Program thinks that a test taker may not have had a good opportunity to demonstrate his or her true ability, the test taker will be offered an optional free retest. In each of these circumstances, the GRE Program is attempting to be as fair as possible to all
examinees.
大体上说，ETS为了确保考试的公证性，在他们确认某个人在考试中的表现不能很好的反应他的能力时，会提供一次免费重考的机会（注意，重考是optional的）。
比如考试系统出题的过程，题目的设计，以及考生在答题时对时间的控制都是考虑因素。
又比如他在对于某一种题型，即便很难，也回答得很好，而对于另一种题型，即使很容易，也回答得很差。这样，系统可能很难正确估计出考生的真实能力。 

6.重考以后，分数怎么送
Q:How and when will my original and retest scores be reported?
 
A:The scores from your original test are reported to the institutions that you requested through the standard reporting process. If you take the free retest, the retest score for the affected section will REPLACE the original score on your permanent record, and a revised score report will be sent to you and your designated score recipients
within 10-15 days after testing. If a department to which you are applying needs the score more quickly, the department can contact the GRE Program.
 
怎么送分？
正常考试送分不说了，重考的section的成绩在重考后10－15天之内送到。如果嫌慢，可以和考试中心联系。 
 
7.重考有什么好处 
ETS原文：
Q:How can I know whether it is to my advantage to retest?
 
A:If you choose to retest, your score can go up, it can go down, or it can remain the same. There is no way to predict what might happen to your score.
 
这是废话，重考成绩有可能>,=,<原来考试的成绩。

8.要是不想重考怎么办? 
ETS原文：
Q:What if I do not want to retest?
 
A:If you decide not to retest, your original score will remain on your testing record.
 
这一点大家很关心：
如果你不想重考，那么可以保留原来的考试成绩。
