The two ancient rivals are the only universities considered internationally outstanding for research, as well as being rated excellent for teaching, but Cambridge's students are slightly better qualified. Entry standards in law are notoriously high: Oxford and Cambridge students average close to three As at A-level. But entrants at some new universities averaged only three Ds and one in five of the national intake arrives without A-levels or their equivalent. With more than 34,000 students taking the subject at degree level, law remains one of the most popular. |
