However, Cambridge, with a five-star rating for research and the highest average entry standards, took top place, with something to spare. Queen Mary, London, was the only institution to approach Cambridge's teaching score. No new university appears in the top 20, but good marks for teaching quality leave the West of England, Central Lancashire, Coventry and Manchester Metropolitan on the fringes of the leading group. Aberdeen is the top-placed Scottish university. |
