The university's all-round quality edges out Birmingham and Sussex, the other two maximum scorers for teaching. Essex and Lancaster are the top research universities, while Edinburgh - like Aberdeen, rated excellent for teaching in Scotland - has the highest entry standards, averaging the equivalent of more than two As and a B at A level. Greenwich is the top-rated new university, narrowly missing a place in the top 20 with one of the best teaching quality assessments. Sociology has more than 17,500 undergraduates. |
