A love for the environment: The Prince of Wales picked up a top award for raising the profile on green issues.

Prince Charles was presented with the tenth eco-accolade by the Harvard Medical School's Centre for Health and the Global Environment during his visit to New York. Former US Vice President and last year's winner, Al Gore, presented the Royal with the Award. A champion of the natural world Commenting on the Royal's win, Centre Director, Eric Chivian, said: "For decades, The Prince of Wales has been a champion of the natural world... He has been a world leader in efforts to improve energy efficiency and in reducing the discharge of toxic substances on land, and into the air and the oceans." No stranger to being outspoken on environmental issues, the Prince grabbed the opportunity at the ceremony to talk further about the urgent steps needed to fight climate change. Take urgent steps now "Our successors will pay most dearly for our dilatoriness and inaction as it is, but we surely owe it to them to take urgent steps now - not just by 2020... Perhaps we should see this as a war we simply have to win," said Prince Charles. "It is for governments to establish policy frameworks to encourage and enable companies to take the necessary steps to make major reductions in their emissions of greenhouse gases." Green and organic
The Prince of Wales, heir to the British Throne, is known for championing green issues and taking a proactive stance on environmental matters. Back in the early 80s, The Prince of Wales laid the foundations for today's successful Duchy Originals organic brand. Products range from organic traditional ale, bread and biscuits to outdoor furniture, hair shampoo and body lotion. The company not only contributes to sustaining the countryside and wildlife but gives back to the local community and to charity, where the generated profits are channelled.
